Oscar de la Renta was born in the Dominican Republic. At the age of 17, he went to Spain to study painting at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in San Fernando. Her professional rise came in 1956, after designing a dress for the daughter of the Spanish ambassador to the US, which won the cover of a renowned fashion magazine. Shortly thereafter, the iconic Cristóbal Balenciaga hired Oscar de la Renta as his assistant. In the following years, he received proposals from Christian Dior, Antonio Castillo and Elizabeth Arden. In 1965, in partnership with Jane Derby, he launched his own brand. Oscar's main inspiration was the woman. In October 2014, Oscar de la Renta passed away but his brand continues to innovate in marketing strategies and maintain its DNA.
